1983 Folding 'Cricket' Chairs by Andries Van Onck for Magis
Designer : Andries Van Onck & Kazuma Yamaguchi
Maker: Magis - Italy
Year: 1983
Size: H 820 x D 480 x W 380
Condition Report: Excellent vintage condition. Very light signs of wear and use with age.
.
The ‘Cricket’ folding chair was born out of the idea to bring together simple geometric figures. A circle for the seat, a rounded pill shape for the backrest and a selection of thin black steel rods for the folding structure combine into what is both a visually intriguing and incredibly functional chair.
Equally as cool when folded up or expanded, the unique mechanism folds down to a super slim profile which really highlights the geometric forms. When expanded, the steel rods of the backrest sit fully vertical, a detail that is not expected in folding chairs, who usually favour an angled backrest. Small details like this really highlight the focus on linear geometric forms.
A handle on the rear slides up and down to transition between open and closed, acting as a convenient place to hang the chairs if desired, or simply to move them around with ease.
NOTE: price is per chair, 2 available
