Red Dinnerware by Massimo & Lella Vignelli for Heller (multiples)
Designer: Massimo & Lella Vignelli
Maker: Heller - USA (Made in NZ - see details below)
Year: 1964
Condition Report: Good vintage condition. Some light wear and scratching with age and use.
.
Manufactured in melamine, this stacking dinnerware was designed by Massimo & Lella Vignelli in 1964. An icon of sixties utilitarian chic, The range of plates, cups and bowls have remained, in our eyes, the most effective and beautiful example of plastic dinnerware produced to date.
We have a selection of all 4 styles in good quantities, priced individually you can get a full set, or just a couple of pieces, the choice is yours.
The refined geometric design of the Heller range allows for pieces to be stacked for storage, although we think the function of these pieces in a contemporary setting can be much more decorative.
NOTE: We have recently heard from Heller in the US, stating they have no record of a licensing deal with an NZ maker. Stamped ‘Heller’ and ‘made under licence in Christchurch’, however this is apparently not the case.
