RARE WHITE TRAY by MASSIMO & LELLA VIGNELLI for HELLER
Designer: Massimo & Lella Vignelli
Maker: Heller - USA
Year: 1964
Size: H 27 x D 125 x W 250
Condition Report: Excellent vintage condition. Limited signs of use.
.
Manufactured in melamine, this tray was designed by Massimo & Lella Vignelli in 1964. An icon of sixties utilitarian chic, The range of plates, cups and bowls have remained, in our eyes, the most effective and beautiful example of plastic tableware produced to date. More often seen in as a round plate, these rectangular versions were produced in much smaller numbers.
The refined geometric design of the Heller range allows for pieces to be stacked for storage, although we think the function of these pieces in a contemporary setting can be much more decorative. Great as a catch-all tray for keys, coins and smaller objects, we love the refined look this brings to an interior space.
