The LTR Side Table, standing for the Low (L) Table (T) with Rod base (R), is an excellent example of the experimentation the Eameses were conducting at the time of design. Moving away from a more classic wooden support, we instead see a steel rod base, which provides superior strength, lightness and in this case, a perfect use of new and available material in order to create unique design solutions.
This version, produced in 2012, was a collaboration between Herman Miller and the Formica Company. Produced in more limited numbers and only used for corporate gifts, not general sale, they have become more and more difficult to track down. Offering a unique patterned laminate top, this version is a combination of white and light grey tones making it an understated yet intriguing special edition.
