sold out

Designer: Charles & Ray Eames

Maker: Herman Miller - USA

Year: 1951 (1990s edition)

Size: H 254 x L 2260 x W 724

Condition report: Great vintage condition. Slight wear / scratching to tabletop. A few very small dents to edge of the table. Reach out for detailed images.

.

Coined the ‘Surfboard’ table due to its bold elliptical shape, it was part of the new wave of furniture started in the early 1950's that moved away from the look and feel of the all wood designs of the past, including the Eames own plywood chairs and tables. Initially released in just a black laminate finish, the white version came to life when Herman Miller put the table back into production in 1994.

With an impressive scale, the table is over 2 meters long, yet sits at only 25 cm above the ground. This unique balance of size and height offers a refined and elegant look, perfect a a central hub in a living space, to be pilled with books, plates and everything in between.

ETR, standing for (E) Elliptical, (T) Table, with a (R) Rod base, continues the unique coding system the Eames’ used to categorise their designs. A sibling to the LTR table (which we also have available), the rod base is constructed in bent steel wire, and supports the layered plywood top, finished in white laminate.

Vintage or new, let us know if you'd like us to track down another one.
