.

The ‘Kevi’ office chair is centred around the principle of ‘the better you sit, the more you get done’. While the adjustability of this chair may not seem much compared to it’s modern counterparts, the ability to adjust the seat up and down, as well as shift the backrest to nestle perfectly in the small of your back was something that was not often seen at the time of design.

Initially designed for the Kevi furniture company in Denmark, the chair saw great international success through the addition of it’s revolutionary double wheel caster. This lead to the licensing being bought by many larger companies such as Knoll, and in the case Fritz Hansen.

The double wheel caster allowed independent movement of 2 individual wheels in each caster, meaning a much smoother rotation, and also a lot less wear due to friction on the wheels. This caster invention has since become the standard for rolling wheels in all aspects of furniture, and it is all thanks to the work done by Joergen Rasmussen on this chair.
