The Eames ‘La Fonda’ range was designed at the request of Alexander Girard for the New York based La Fonda De Sol restaurant in 1961. Initially just a chair, a year later the side table was produced utilising the same style of base.
Possibly the most uncommon of the Eames bases, it strikes a nice balance between the Steel Rod style bases and the more substantial Aluminium Group bases, siting at a sweet spot between the two.
Two halves of cast aluminium bolt together to create the symmetrical base. Attached in this case to a more recently produced wood and laminate table top produced by Formway.
Making an excellent coffee table, the lightness of from and simple material palette make this a seamless addition in a range of contemporary spaces.
