Japanese maker Asano has been hand crafting paper lamps in the Gifu prefecture for over 90 years. Using high grade Washi paper and a spiral rib of bamboo, the process involves wrapping the bamboo around wooden forms and then glueing and applying each panel separately until the entire surface has been papered: a laborious and highly skilled endeavour.
Simple yet intricate in workmanship and quality, each lamp provides warm, edgeless light. The diffused illumination warmly glows from within, creating a calming atmosphere in the surrounding space.
This lamp, the Paper Moon 04, works well in a number of different spaces. Sit it atop a sideboard, directly on the floor, or even vertically on the wall.
