.

The 1980s saw an abundance of post modern lighting design flourish around the world. Leading the way, manufacturers like Artemide were pushing the boundaries of both technology and form.

The ‘Polifemo’ lamp, produced in 1983, stands much taller than most modern day floor lamps. This high is exaggerated even further through the use of a single vertical support, combining the weighted base with the light and reflector The balance of clean lines and simple geometric forms create a lamp that feels elegant and timeless in any setting.

The triangular support holds the circular reflector disk right above the vertical light source. Rotate the disc around this axis to achieve a number of different lighting effects. Bouncing the light against the wall, or into the room, this versatility sets the Polifemo lamp aside from many of its other 80s post-modern counterparts who often focuses more on aesthetic intrigue, rather than balancing both function and appearance.
