Elegant yet ergonomic, the Shell chair combines two formed plywood panels of the same shape to create the seat and backrest. Secured at the small overlap point, the seemingly simple construction really highlights the beautiful natural wooden finish, complimented by black legs and details.
Niko Kralj was a leader in Eastern European post-war design, pushing forward affordable and durable materials like plywood, much like the Eameses were in the US. The shell chair found a home in many socialist-era offices and public waiting rooms, and since it was put back into production, many contemporary home and office setting. A testament as always to the timeless style of the design.
