The George Nelson ball pendant has become an icon of Mid-century lighting design since its creation in 1952. Constructed from a plastic composite skin that stretches over steel supports, the lamp has a beautiful texture when observed up close, reminiscent of the classic Japanese paper lanterns.
This pendant, produced by Modernica under licence in the USA, used the original tools and machinery from the initial production runs by Herman Miller. A nod to the past and the breakthroughs in production techniques that were being rapidly developed during this period, we love this connection to the original makers.
A warm soft quality of light lends this lamp to use in any contemporary interior. Sitting above a dining table, or floating in the corner of a lounge, a timeless style that has stood the text of time due to it’s versatility, simplicity and beauty.
NOTE: Cable and matching nickel ceiling plate are included. Will require professional wiring into the ceiling, or the included wall plug can be used.
